At NES, online learning is comprised of two components:

  2. Virtual assessments & assignments

As we follow a Facilitated Inverted Classroom Model (FICM) , NES promotes student achievement and success, through self-directed learning. While our remote learning is comprehensive and flexible, it is personalized and tailored to support students on a 1v1 basis.

Your first step is to begin the course registration. Students are able to browse the course catalogue to find a course or courses that align with their learning needs and interests, and can add it to the cart. Once the purchase is complete, students can submit registration forms and relevant documents online. Once you receive the confirmation of registration you can officially start your course at NES!

University Applications FAQ

While Colleges and universities are commonly a part of Ontario’s postsecondary education system, these pathways offer different programs that are based on these factors:

  • Program length
  • Type

While Colleges generally offer programs that can be applied towards a career, colleges offer courses that lead to certification in specific areas as students will gain a diploma or certificate upon graduation. Typically, programs in college run about 1-2 years.

Universities focus on academic and professional programs. Typically they run between 3-4 years. Upon graduation, students will earn a Bachelor’s degree.

For non-Canadian citizens or international students, universities require an additional document that indicates an assessment of high level English proficiency. As different universities offer various applicants the opportunity to complete one of the several popular tests:

  • IELTS

  • TOEFL

  • DuoLingo

The most popular language test is IELTS and commonly most universities require a minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher with no category lower than 6.0

As a rule of thumb, most universities assess applicants based on these two factors:

  1. Top 6 U/M (Grade 12 courses) overall average

  2. English facility score (Language test or course)

Depending on the program of interest, students are also assessed based on supplementary documentation (e.g., supplementary application, profile, essays).

Different universities will set different deadlines based on programs. However, the deadline to submit the initial application for admission is usually January 13, 2022 through the OUAC online system. However, depending on the university, some programs are offered on an ongoing basis, and can be applied after the initial OUAC deadline. Please visit the respective University’s Admissions guidelines for up to date information.
